Specialist Luis Garfias from DNV Columbus-EUA discusses at INOX 2010 the technological challenges that the CRA's - Corrosion Resistant Alloys - face in the production of oil and gas
Dr. Luis Garfias will be present at INOX 2010 as guest speaker to discuss the technological challenges that the CRA's - corrosion resistant alloys - must face the harsh conditions encountered in exploration in ultra deep waters, like those found in the Pre-Salt. The lecture will occur on the day 20:09 and will present the state of the art in terms of development of materials necessary for production of hydrocarbons from wells in which prevail conditions considered extreme. It will be present some of the main customary standards for material testing for the oil industry, among them 15 156 MR0175/ISO NACE Standard and the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC) Publication 17, which are widely used to guide the selection of CRA's acid services. Finally an alternative approach will be presented to the ASTM G-48 and G-150 which allows a more detailed analysis of the mechanisms of corrosion occurring in the CRA's for oil and gas production.
